Pluronic F-68 (P188, Poloxamer 188, MST-188), a non-ionic surfactant and polyol, is a PEO-PPO-PEO polymer (the form polyethylene oxide-polypropylene oxide-polyethylene oxide). Pluronic F-68 has been used as an excipient in a variety of formulations and drug delivery systems. It is also used to control shear forces in suspension cultures, and as a supplement to Murashige and Skoog medium to enhance shoot regeneration in citrus rootstock and as a component of plant cell cryopreservation media. In addition, it can reduce foaming in stirred cultures and reduce cell attachment to glass.
